# xarray.core.accessor_str.StringAccessor.lower

#### StringAccessor.lower()[[source]](https://github.com/pydata/xarray/blob/main/xarray/core/accessor_str.py#L709-L730)

Convert strings in the array to lowercase.

* **Returns:**
  **lowered** (`same type as values`)
